Christmas Memories and December Birthdays

Happy New Year!! How has it been for everyone so far?

I have a couple fun Christmas memories to pass along to everyone!

The first one is from Uncle Keith -

"So many great Christmas memories to choose from. This one keeps coming back to me. We were living in the little and old farm house on the east side of 93. Uncle Mike and Aunt Jonesy and their kids were spending Christmas Eve/day with us. Grandma and grandpa Dutch were living in an enclosed front porch type thing in that same house. Their room had zero insulation and was always super cold when you went into it. So imagine all these people in this small crowded place. That night the hide-a-bed came out. Sleeping bags from wall to wall. At my age that was all so fun and exciting to have all these relatives around. I received a bunch of presents but can only remember a rubber snake. In those days a rubber snake was a dream present. So many possibilities came with Rubber snake. Later that day I threw it at Aunt Jonesy, it startled her to the point of tears. I felt bad. I was treated to visit about rubber snakes not being enjoyed by everyone on the same level as myself. Who knew? Anyway the people In The house made that Christmas be what it was--memorable!"

Kelani said that she didn't have any specific memories except for the time we all got matching footie pajamas and Grandma Farns would always head up the big, fun BINGO tournaments and we'd get to pick a pair of socks when we won a round of BINGO. And she also mentioned the times we would go to Sligar's during the Christmas get togethers.

I have a hard time just picking one memory too, so here is a little list of some of my favorites -

~Doing a pinata every year (and Stephanie cracking the baseball bat during her turn one year)

~The upstairs back bedroom being layered in trays and pans and tupperware full of Grandma's homemade sugar cookies, toffee, caramels, bonbons, and more, plus gallons worth of Chex Mix

~Opening porcelain dolls with all the other girl cousins one year

~Grandpa gifting time with each grandson to help them make a belt

~Christmas jammies for everyone

~Family dinners

~Getting pulled behind the tractor to go tubing in the field with some of the cousins

~Cousin sleepovers and movie parties in the basement

~Grandma's Christmas tree with an ornament for every person on it

~Going to a movie after Christmas parties were over, then coming back and partying some more

The list could go on but I think you get the idea! :)
