Hi, family!
It was so fun to hear back from some of you about your first Farm memories! Thank you!!
Let's get started!
Heather - I think mine is sledding down the lane in the snow. I'm not really sure how old I was. But I think we lived in Eagle and were visiting
Steph - I remember going over to Grandma Cobbs and pouring through her Sears and JC Penney catalogs and picking out oval shaped rocks out of the driveway to paint Lady bugs on, and Grandma Farnsworth answering the door with a big hug and a "Susie my darling!"
Ben - I remember Grandma Cobb asking me when my birthday was and I didn't know. I remember the smell of dill in Grandma Dutch's garden. I can see grandpa Dutch walking between houses and turning to look with his whole body rather than just turning his neck. I remember endless delicious food at Grandma and Grandpa Farnsworth's house and epic multi-day Christmas parties. The sound of morning doves still make me think of the farm.
Dillon - My earliest memories of being on the farm are some good ones where we would go to have Sunday dinner with Grandma and Grandpa. The red kool aid in a glass was a special part of that. Another early family memory I have is when we all gathered up and went out to see Grandpa at the sugar beet place. I remember a dusty area, sugar beets, a bunch of smiling faces of ours and Grandpa happy to see everyone. And glazed donuts!
Audrey - My first memory on the farm that I can remember, was when I was around five years old. For some reason Grandpa Farns was babysitting Ethan and I. It was one of the last days of the summer. After Ethan and I asked Grandpa, he finally let us jump in the pool in our footy pajamas. A thunderstorm began, and Grandpa took us inside to have a warm bath and some hot chocolate. This was also one of my first memories I can remember with Grandpa.
Link - My earliest family memory was the camping reunion at Alturas. I remember I wanted to sleep on the top bunk.
Gabe - My memory isn't necessarily my first but it was one that kind of went on for a long period of time when we were younger. Dillon and I had Cody, Ethan, Audrey, and Michael convinced that Grandpa Farnsworth had a secret network of tunnels underneath the farm that had treasure all over in it. And there were several different ways into the tunnels. So we'd give them clues and hints on where to find the secret entrances and one of them was underneath the giant septic tank lid in grandma and grandpa's yard. So for the next couple days we tried to figure out ways to get it open and get into it. But after grabbing lots of different tools we just weren't successful. So then we "remembered" that there was a lever to open the septic tank and it was up in the vent on the outside of the house, which required climbing a ladder and taking the vent off. I'm pretty sure we got the ladder and some screw drivers and then we got caught. So that ended our adventure for the day and we forgot about it the next day. I'm sure there's plenty more secret entrances but I can't remember them. I know we made a couple different treasure maps as well. But that's one of my favorite memories of the farm!
Aubrey - Mine isn't as specific because I don't really remember everything at the farm but one of my memories of the farm is when everyone went into the pool and we did a giant whirl pool and at the time I couldn't touch the bottom so I ended up riding on my dad's back.
Logan - Something I remember is Gabe, Dillon, Cody, Ethan, Audrey, Korbyn, Mikey and me would do karate on the tramp sometimes.
Spencer - Stopped in for a few minutes one time, Grandma Farns said "hi", Grandpa Farms stepped into the house for a minute and said "hi" as well. Then he turned around and went back outside. Probably working on some project. Can't remember why we were there but it was fun. I think it was when we Irish Danced at CSI for some highland games.
Jana - My first time at the farm, Grandpa Dutch looking at my broken down car to see what was wrong and calling me "Sis". While Ron and I were dating, Mike telling us to "feel free to get married".
Tiana - I'm pretty sure that my first memory of the Farm was being a little kid and running with Heather through the fields behind Keith and Shelle's house towards the log cabin where the Browns used to live. The grass/weeds were super tall and since we were little then it felt like running through a jungle. It seems like at one point one of us lost a shoe as we were running, and I think Heather was making a joke about running back home to the log cabin even though they didn't live there anymore.
I think another pretty early memory was when I was around 4 years old or so and had tripped into a coffee table at our house and gotten a black eye right before we went for a visit at the Farm. I remember my dad holding me in the kitchen of the Farm and telling Grandma about my eye and then Grandma feeling so sorry for me.
I hope these brought back some fun memories for everyone! If it did and you have any you'd like to share then we'd love to hear them!!
